Australian artist, Lucy Watts, grew up in coastal Sydney. After completing a degree in communications and working in the conference research industry, her life took a new direction when she married a grazier and moved to a rural property on the outskirts of the central western NSW town of Dunedoo.
There Lucy spent several years working in event and conference organisation in the nearby wine region of Mudgee. Later she worked for Cudgegong Gallery in the historic town of Gulgong, managing publicity and curating art exhibitions.
Having always had a strong interest in creating artworks herself, it was not until after the arrival of her first child in 2001 that she was able to pursue this enthusiasm with vigour.
The ever-changing rural landscape that surrounds Lucy and movement in life itself provide inspiration for her creations. "Everywhere I turn there are endless opportunities to create a moment of stillness from the energy and beauty of life."
Welcome to my website and thank you for visiting. I hope you enjoy browsing my original paintings on canvas and the limited edition prints available on archival paper and premium canvas.
The abundance of Australian birdlife, flora and wildlife here in rural central western NSW means a warbling Magpie, a darting Superb Fairy Wren or a majestic King Parrot are never far from grabbing my attention and filling me with a need to record them with my paints and brushes! The garden, paddocks and skies are a constant buzz and rustle of activity. Produce, usually from our vegetable garden, is also a source of artistic creation for the studio…. Another favourite area of artistic indulgence is in the memories of my Australian coastal childhood growing up in Sydney and visiting family on the South Coast.
I feel fortunate to also work with professional printers who take great pride in the quality of materials and equipment they use. This, combined with their exceptional skill, bring my original artworks to life in print form too. They produce vibrant, state of the art prints using the highest quality inks on archival paper or premium canvas to then frame as you choose.
A favourite part of my business is working one-on-one with clients for commissioned paintings. If you have something in mind that you’d like to see created and brought to life for a special gift or for your own walls, I’d love to discuss it with you. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch via email or phone. I hope you enjoy your time on my website. Thanks again for visiting!
